Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest
- WRSSAR (local) Poster Contest Award Levels: $150, $125, $100
- State and National Contests also offer 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash awards.
- The top poster in each school wins $25 regardless of whether it also places 1st, 2nd, or third in the overall contest.
- Poster Due Date: THE FOURTH MONDAY OF MARCH each year.
- For academic school years ending in even numbers (such as 2024), the theme shall be any “Revolutionary War Events."
- For academic years ending in odd numbers (such as 2025), the theme shall be “Revolutionary War Person or Persons, male or female, of any race or ethnicity who supported the US cause.”
- Some ideas about possible people to present for odd year contests are soldiers, politicians, business people, nurses, poets, etc. Some novel ideas are listed below but these are options, not mandatory:
- a) Crispus Attucks of Boston (first man to die in the rebellion)
- b) Salem Poor from the Battles of Bunker Hill and Saratoga
- c) Phyllis Wheatley - Patriot Poet, former slave, supporter of Washington, 3rd woman to publish a book of poetry in the new nation.
